About This Product

2027 Ronix Sonic Boys Fish Wakesurf | A Versatile Fun Board for the Groms

The 2027 Ronix Sonic Boys Fish is the kids' version of the shape that has been in the Ronix line longest for a reason. A thin-profiled 3'9" with a deep swallow tail in Ronix's Extra Durability Sonic construction, rated for all levels and built for the homies up to 80 lb — that's 36 kg. It's the board to buy when a kid can already surf and wants to start doing things on the wave.

Key Technical Features

  • Deep Swallow Tail: The swallow lets the tail release at the top of the wave and re-engage on the way down — the shape detail that makes a Fish playful rather than just stable.
  • Thin Profile, 7.3 Litres: Deliberately less float than the Powertail. A thinner board is easier for a light rider to sink a rail into, which is what carving actually requires.
  • Clean Bottom, Fast Rocker Line: 2.9" of rocker with a clean base. Speed without effort, so on a modest wake they're surfing rather than falling off the back.
  • Sonic Construction: Rated by Ronix for Extra Durability. This board will be thrown in the bow, stood on wet and left in the sun — it's built for that life.
  • Bottom-Mount Fin Setup, Tool Included: A 2.3" Turbo 3000, a 2.3" bottom-mount fin and two 1.5" bottom-mount fibreglass fins, with the Allen key in the box. Three fins in the water means the board tracks harder while they find their balance.

Why You'll Love It

All levels within the kids' range — but sized honestly at 7.3 litres and rated to 36 kg, so it's a board for lighter riders. A heavier kid will sink it and wonder why nothing works. Who it isn't for: if your kid is still learning to stand up, or the wake is small, the Sonic Powertail is the better first board — the Fish is what they move to once they want the board to move under them. It ships with the performance award sticker pack, which matters a lot when you're eight.

Size Guide

  • 3'9": up to 36 kg · 7.3 L · 2.9" rocker · 17.3" wide

One size, Sunset Splash colourway. Board only, fins, tool and sticker pack included.

Quick Answers

Sonic Fish or Sonic Powertail?
Same construction, fins and length. The Powertail has 12 litres and a big tail for drive — for a kid who can't pump yet or a small wake, rated to 45 kg. The Fish has 7.3 litres and a swallowtail for carving, rated to 36 kg. Learning, the Powertail; already surfing, the Fish.

Sonic Fish or Alpha Squad Sea Captain?
The Alpha Squad is the next rung — a scaled adult thruster at 4'2" rated to 72 kg with tool-free Button fins. Once a kid passes 36 kg or is riding the whole wave confidently, that's the board. Under that, the Sonic Fish.

Do the fins need a tool?
Yes — the Sonic series uses Ronix's bottom-mount system with an Allen key, included in the box. It's not the tool-free Button system on the adult boards, but it's a two-minute job and the fins stay put.
