Frequently asked questions

Professional tuning ensures your board performs safely and predictably. Over time, your base dries out (turning white or grey) and edges become dull or burred. At our Mornington snowboard workshop, we use precision tools to sharpen edges for better grip on icy runs and apply high-quality hot wax to ensure you glide smoothly without "sticking" in flat sections.
-
For the best experience on the mountain, we recommend a hot wax every 3–5 days of riding. However, if you notice your base looking dry or you’re losing speed on groomed runs, it’s time for a service. Regular waxing not only makes you faster but also protects your base from permanent damage and dehydration.

Yes! Our head technician, Rick O’Shea (with over 20 years of experience), specializes in snowboard base repairs. If you’ve hit a rock and have a "core shot" (a scratch reaching the wood core), we use professional P-Tex welding techniques to seal and waterproof the base, preventing further structural damage.
-
Absolutely. While we are a premier snowboard destination, our workshop is fully equipped for ski tuning and repairs on the Mornington Peninsula. We provide edge sharpening, base grinds, and hot waxing for all types of skis to ensure you’re ready for the Australian season or overseas trips.
-
We pride ourselves on a fast turnaround. Standard waxing and edge tuning can typically be completed within 24–48 hours. During peak season, we recommend calling us at (03) 9781 4733 to book your spot and ensure your gear is ready before you head to the snow.

We actually recommend a Storage Wax at the end of the season. We apply a thick layer of hot wax over the base and edges but don't scrape it off. This seals the base from drying out and prevents the metal edges from rusting while your board is in the cupboard over summer.
