About This Product
2027 Hyperlite Time Machine Wakesurfer | Down the Line Speed
The 2027 Hyperlite Time Machine is a snappy surf-style shape with a dual concave tail that keeps it glued to the wave, and it gains a new 4'3" size for 2027. Four fin settings through Futures boxes are the real story: run all four and it drives, pull the drop fins and it breaks free for in-the-wave spins. Hyperlite rates it at the very top of the 2027 range for speed.
Key Technical Features
- DuraShell Construction: Hyperlite's compression-moulded outer shell over an EPS core. It shrugs off heel dents and dock rash, which is what separates a board that still looks right in year three from one that does not.
- EPS Core: A light, buoyant core that keeps the board riding high in a soft wave. Less board in the water means less push needed to hold you there.
- Dual Concave Base: Twin channels through the tail funnel water and keep the board connected to the face. It is where the down-the-line speed comes from.
- Four Fin Settings, Futures Fin Boxes: Two 3.5" Flux and two 2.0" Drop fins in the box, and four ways to run them. All four for drive, Flux only to let the tail spin loose. One board, two personalities.
- Shaper: Aaron Stumpf: Hyperlite's lead shaper, and the name behind most of the 2027 surf-style line.
Why You'll Love It
Hyperlite's SKILL bar runs the Time Machine from the beginner end to about halfway, so this is a beginner-to-intermediate board that keeps giving as you improve rather than an expert-only shape. The Push Meter is full at 4/4 and the wave size is rated MED, so it will work on a mid-sized wake but wants that wake to actually push. Who it isn't for: advanced riders chasing technical skim tricks, who want the Raven or the SoS. If you want a genuine hybrid that splits the difference between surf and skim, take the Shim.
Size Guide
- 4'7": 17.2 litres · 20" wide · riders up to 86 kg
- 4'11": 19.4 litres · 21" wide · riders up to 109 kg
Also new this season in 4'3", with no volume, width or rider-weight figure published for it yet, so we will not guess — talk to us and we will size it. Rocker runs 2" in the tip and 0.75" in the tail across the range. Note the dealer book's own fin spec says 2.0" drop fins while its paragraph says 1.7"; we have quoted the spec line.
Quick Answers
Surf or skim?
Surf-style, but with a hybrid trick up its sleeve. Run the two Flux fins on their own and the tail releases enough for in-the-wave spins, which is unusual on a board with this much drive. Full skim riders still want the Hi-Fi, Shift or Raven.
Which size should I be on?
At 4'7" Hyperlite rates riders up to 86 kg, and the 4'11" up to 109 kg. The new 4'3" sits below both and has no published weight range yet. Shorter spins easier, longer holds speed and lands calmer.
What wave does it need?
Rated MED on wave size but a full 4/4 on push, so a mid-sized wake with real shove behind it. If your boat throws a smaller wave, the Landlock is the only 2027 board rated 2/4.

About Hyperlite
Hyperlite changed wakeboarding forever in 1991 when it built the world's first compression-molded wakeboard — and it's driven the sport's innovation ever since, from Biolite cores to the 0-G boot platform.
Today the range spans wakeboards, wakesurfers and boots, built for everyone from first-timers to the pros. It's the brand that wrote the rulebook, and keeps rewriting it.
