About This Product

2027 Hyperlite Storm Wakesurfer | Woven Carbon, High Performance Skim

The 2027 Hyperlite Storm is the high-performance skim shape in the 2027 line, built on Woven Carbon Construction over a Nova Core for a snappy, responsive feel. A wider tail drives the acceleration and a blunt tip and tail profile keeps it tracking straight when you are riding switch. Hyperlite rates it at the top of the range for both pop and carve.

Key Technical Features

  • Woven Carbon Construction: A woven carbon laminate rather than a plain sheet, so load spreads across the board instead of concentrating. Stiff, light, quick to rebound.
  • Nova Core: Hyperlite's lightweight core for the carbon skim boards. Low swing weight is what lets a board this fast still rotate quickly.
  • Minimal Rocker / Flat Base: Almost no curve through the base. All the speed and lift the Storm generates starts here, and it is why the board accelerates the moment you weight the tail.
  • Wide Tail with Blunt Tip & Tail Profile: Extra surface area right at both ends for acceleration off the bottom, and a squared-off outline that tracks cleanly when you land and ride away switch.
  • Fins: 1.25" Solo Skim Fin (1): A single low-profile skim fin. Enough to hold a line when you want one, little enough to let the tail slide the instant you unweight it.

Why You'll Love It

Hyperlite's SKILL bar opens the Storm at about a fifth of the way up the scale and runs it clean to the expert end — one of the widest ranges in the 2027 book, and a fair reflection of a board that is approachable to ride but has a long ceiling. The Push Meter is 3/4 and the wave size is rated XLG, so it needs a properly weighted boat behind it. Who it isn't for: riders who have never ridden without the rope, or anyone on a small wake. Start on the Hi-Fi or the Shift. Riders chasing competition skim should compare it against the Raven.

Size Guide

  • 4'2": Hyperlite rates riders up to 86 kg
  • 4'6": Hyperlite rates riders up to 100 kg

Also made in 3'9". Hyperlite publishes no volume table for the Storm, and its website lists the smallest Storm under a different length and gives two sizes the same volume and width, so we will not quote those numbers. Ask us and we will size you off weight and wave.

Quick Answers

Skim or surf?
Skim, and firmly so. Flat base, sharp rail, one small fin. It slides, spins and rides switch rather than driving down the line. If you want drive and hold, the Frother and the Accelerator are the twin-fin surf answer.

Storm or Shift?
Construction. The Storm is Woven Carbon over a Nova Core; the Shift is handcrafted epoxy over an EPS core with a wood stringer, and costs a good deal less. Worth knowing: Hyperlite prints near-identical copy for both, but rates the Storm far higher for pop and carve. Trust the graphic, not the paragraph.

What wave does it need?
Rated XLG with a 3/4 push, so a long, clean, well-weighted wake. A skim board makes its own speed but still needs a face to carry it. On a smaller wave, go surf-style.

About Hyperlite

Hyperlite changed wakeboarding forever in 1991 when it built the world's first compression-molded wakeboard — and it's driven the sport's innovation ever since, from Biolite cores to the 0-G boot platform.

Today the range spans wakeboards, wakesurfers and boots, built for everyone from first-timers to the pros. It's the brand that wrote the rulebook, and keeps rewriting it.
