About This Product
About This Product
2027 Hyperlite State Jr. Wakeboard | The Beginner Shape, Scaled Down
The 2027 Hyperlite State Jr. is the 125 cm version of Hyperlite's best-selling beginner board, and it inherits the feature that matters most to a kid learning: an asymmetrical outline with a shorter toe-side edge. Less rail pressure to hold a toe-side edge, less again to swap back to heels. Aaron Stumpf shaped it, the fins are moulded into the base, and it is built for riders up to about 45 kg.
Key Technical Features
- Asymmetrical Design: A shorter toe-side rail than heel-side. Toe-side is where most kids stall out for a whole summer, and this is Hyperlite's fix for it.
- Molded In Fins: Two 1.3 inch Disorder fins formed into the base. Nothing to fit, nothing to lose off the back of the boat, and no fin bolts near small feet.
- Molded-In Toe Side Footbed Risers: Risers built into the deck under each binding, tilting the feet toward the toe-side rail so a light rider can actually load it.
- Biolite 3 Core: PU foam in a fibreglass wrap. Light enough for a small rider to swing around, damp enough to take the landings a beginner will actually have.
- Monocoque Construction & Layered Glass: Top and base laminates bonded into a single shell, spreading impact across the board instead of one spot. It decides whether a learner's board sees a second season.
Why You'll Love It
Hyperlite's skill bar for the State family runs from zero to a little past halfway, so this is unambiguously a first-board shape, and a good one. Hyperlite publishes a ceiling of about 45 kg for the 125, which means most kids get two seasons before they need more board. Who it isn't for: a kid who can already ride and wants to start jumping is better on the Murray Jr. or the Murray Jr. Girls, which are progression shapes rather than starter shapes. Over 45 kg, take the 130 State 2.0.
Size Guide
- 125 cm: riders up to 45 kg · 697 sq in · 16.2" wide · 20-24" stance
One size only. The catalogue lists the State family on an Abrupt Continuous Rocker while the State Jr.'s own web page calls its rockerline a Subtle 3-Stage, so we have left the rocker figure off rather than publish a number we cannot stand behind. Board only, fins moulded in, bindings separate.
Quick Answers
State Jr. or Motive Jr.?
Both are first boards. The Motive Jr. is 119 cm on a continuous rocker for the softest possible turn, aimed at a rider under about 48 kg getting up for the first time. The State Jr. is 125 cm and asymmetrical, which helps a kid who is already up and riding start holding a real toe-side edge.
State Jr. or Murray Jr.?
Level. The State Jr. is a starter shape. The Murray Jr. is a progression shape for a kid who can already ride and wants to jump. Buying the Murray Jr. first usually costs a season.
What about bindings?
Sold separately, on M6 inserts. Bring the kid in and we will fit them. A boot that is too big is the most common reason a beginner cannot hold an edge.

About Hyperlite
Hyperlite changed wakeboarding forever in 1991 when it built the world's first compression-molded wakeboard — and it's driven the sport's innovation ever since, from Biolite cores to the 0-G boot platform.
Today the range spans wakeboards, wakesurfers and boots, built for everyone from first-timers to the pros. It's the brand that wrote the rulebook, and keeps rewriting it.
