About This Product
2027 Hyperlite Motive Jr. Wakeboard | A Kid's First Board
The 2027 Hyperlite Motive Jr. is built for one job: a kid's first time behind a boat. It is 119 cm on a continuous rocker, which gives the mellowest turn and the smoothest lift off the wake of anything Hyperlite makes, and the fins are moulded into the base so there is nothing to fit and nothing to lose. Hyperlite sizes it for groms under about 48 kg.
Key Technical Features
- Continuous Rocker: An unbroken curve at 2.3 inches. There is no staged kick waiting to catch a beginner out. The board rolls up the wake and off it, and holds its speed across the flats.
- Molded-in Fins: Two 1.3 inch Disorder fins formed into the base. No hardware, no sharp edges near small hands, and nothing to crack on a shallow ramp.
- Full Beveled Edge: The rail is rounded the whole way around. It is why a beginner can put a foot wrong and roll through it instead of catching an edge and going face first.
- Biolite 3 Core: PU foam in a fibreglass wrap. Light enough for a small rider to control, damp enough to soak up the landings a learner actually has.
- Molded Landing Feature: A shaped compression zone in the profile that takes the sting out of a flat landing, the thing most likely to end a kid's first session early.
Why You'll Love It
Hyperlite's own skill bar runs the Motive Jr. from zero to about 35 per cent of the scale, and its pop and speed markers both sit low. That is exactly what a first board should read like, and it matches what Hyperlite says on its own site: best for kids up to about 45 kg. Who it isn't for: a kid who is already up, riding both edges and asking about jumping will be held back by it, and the Murray Jr. or the State Jr. is next. Its sibling the Divine Jr. is this board with Satin Flex and a different graphic.
Size Guide
- 119 cm: riders up to 48 kg · Continuous 2.3" rocker · 675 sq in · 15.6" wide · 16-18" stance
One size only, and it is a narrow window. The catalogue puts the 119 at groms under about 48 kg while hyperlite.com says up to about 45 kg. Once a kid is past that they are on a 125 State Jr. or a 120 Murray Jr. Board only, fins moulded in, bindings separate.
Quick Answers
Motive Jr. or Divine Jr.?
Flex and graphic, and we will not pretend otherwise. Same 119 cm shape, same continuous rocker, same moulded-in fins, same published rider weight. The Divine Jr. adds Satin Flex, which is softer, and Hyperlite's skill bar for it stops slightly lower.
Motive Jr. or State Jr.?
Level. The Motive Jr. is the softest, most forgiving turn Hyperlite makes and is a genuine first board. The State Jr. is 125 cm and asymmetrical, aimed at a kid who is already riding and needs help with the toe-side edge.
What do I need to buy with it?
Bindings only. The fins are moulded in, and the M6 inserts take any major brand's boot. Bring the kid in and we will fit the boot properly.

About Hyperlite
Hyperlite changed wakeboarding forever in 1991 when it built the world's first compression-molded wakeboard — and it's driven the sport's innovation ever since, from Biolite cores to the 0-G boot platform.
Today the range spans wakeboards, wakesurfers and boots, built for everyone from first-timers to the pros. It's the brand that wrote the rulebook, and keeps rewriting it.
