2027 Hyperlite Lobo Wakesurfer | Loose, Lively and Serious Ollie Power
The 2027 Hyperlite Lobo is the playful one. A true twin fin with slightly more nose rocker than its stablemates, a wide tail and a vented tail channel that between them give it genuine ollie power off the wake. Handcrafted epoxy over an EPS core and wood stringer keeps it light underfoot, and Hyperlite rates it at the top of the 2027 range for carve.
Key Technical Features
- Handcrafted Epoxy Construction: Hand-laid epoxy over an EPS core with a wood stringer. Light, lively and built to be ridden hard.
- Wide Tail and Vented Tail Channel: The two features that give the Lobo its pop. The wide tail loads up, the vented channel releases the water cleanly, and the result is real ollie height off a modest wake.
- Increased Nose Rocker: A touch more lift in the nose than the rest of the surf-style range. It is what lets you land air 180s in reverse without burying the tip.
- True Twin Fin Design: A symmetrical twin setup rather than a thruster or quad. Looser, faster to release at the top of the turn, and easier to spin.
- Two Fin Options: Custom 4.5" carbon and fibreglass Lobo fins in the box. Hyperlite's own recommendation is to run 3.5" Flux fins for a looser ride, or step up to the 4.6" Carbon set for more power.
Why You'll Love It
Hyperlite's SKILL bar starts the Lobo almost at the beginner end and runs it to about 70%, so it suits riders from their first few confident sets through to upper intermediate. The Push Meter reads 3/4 and the wave size is rated MED, which makes it one of the more realistic surf-style choices behind an average Australian tow boat. Who it isn't for: advanced riders chasing maximum drive and hold — the Moab or the Accelerator will give you more of both. If you want a longer, more planted twin, the Frother is the one.
Size Guide
- 4'6": 22.72 litres · 20" wide · riders up to 86 kg
- 4'8": 26.6 litres · 20.25" wide · riders up to 100 kg
A 5'0" is also in the Australian range this season, with no volume, width or rider-weight figure printed for it, so we will not estimate one — ask us and we will size it. Worth knowing: Hyperlite's website still shows the previous Lobo build with fins sold separately. The 2027 board is handcrafted epoxy and the fins are included.
Quick Answers
Skim or surf?
Surf-style, and the loosest of them. A twin fin with a wide tail and extra nose rocker sits closer to a skim feel than the Moab or the Accelerator, without giving up the drive that makes a surf shape worth riding.
Which fins should I run?
Hyperlite gives you a genuine choice here. The 3.5" Flux set makes it looser and skatier, the 4.6" Carbon twin set adds drive and power. One board, two very different sessions — most riders end up owning both sets.
Will it work behind a smaller boat?
Better than most surf-style boards, yes — rated MED on wave size with a 3/4 push. If your wake is genuinely small, the Landlock is the only 2027 board rated 2/4.

About Hyperlite
Hyperlite changed wakeboarding forever in 1991 when it built the world's first compression-molded wakeboard — and it's driven the sport's innovation ever since, from Biolite cores to the 0-G boot platform.
Today the range spans wakeboards, wakesurfers and boots, built for everyone from first-timers to the pros. It's the brand that wrote the rulebook, and keeps rewriting it.
