2027 HO Hovercraft Slalom Ski | Easier Than a Wakeboard to Get Up On
The 2027 HO Hovercraft has roughly the surface area of two skis put together, and everything about it follows from that. Deep water starts are easier than on a wakeboard, and once you are up it turns like a surfboard rather than demanding the edge control a conventional slalom ski does.
Key Technical Features
- Widetrack Frame: The extra-stable platform that makes the deep water start easy. If getting up has been the barrier, this is the feature that removes it.
- Swallow Tail Tri-Fin: Three fins and a swallow tail give surf-style control. You steer it from the tail, so it turns without you having to master edging first.
- Flexbody Construction: A lightweight, high-flex build. It lets you either steer from the tail or work the ski dynamically once you know what you are doing.
- Surf-Inspired Feel: HO's own framing, and it is accurate: this rips turns rather than carving them. Lower speeds, less effort, more play.
Why You'll Love It
This is the ski for two people. The first has never got up on one ski and wants to, today, without a season of failed attempts. The second has skied for years and wants something genuinely fun to muck about on at open-water speeds. HO rate it beginner through expert and file it as freeride, not course. Who it isn't for: anyone who wants to run buoys. It is not a course ski and does not pretend to be. If that is the goal, start on the Omni.
Size Guide
- 65": riders up to about 68 kg
- 67": riders from about 68 kg up
Weights converted from HO's published pounds. Their factory chart lists only a 65 and puts it higher, so we have used the website's two-row table, which covers both sizes we stock. HO do not publish construction detail, rocker or fin specification for this ski, so we have left those out. Sold as a ski only, blank.
Quick Answers
Is this really easier than a wakeboard?
That is HO's claim, and the surface area supports it. Roughly two skis' worth of area under you means the ski wants to plane rather than being dragged through the water.
Hovercraft or Omni?
Different jobs. The Hovercraft is a wide, surf-style freeride ski for easy starts and playful turns. The Omni is a crossover that will also run a course. Buy the Hovercraft for fun, the Omni to progress.
Which size should I be on?
Up to about 68 kg the 65, and above that the 67. HO give only a broad split on this model rather than a full chart.

About HO Sports
HO Sports has been building water skis in the United States since 1958 — the oldest name still making them, and the brand behind a long run of firsts in slalom design.
The range runs from the Syndicate tournament skis ridden at the top of the sport down to the crossover and trainer shapes that get families up on the water. Same shaping room, same testing lake, whichever end you buy from.
