Firewire Surfboards Australia
Firewire Surfboards was founded in 2006 by renowned shaper Daniel Thomson and industry veteran Nev Hyman with a clear mission: build the highest-performing surfboards in the world while doing as little damage to the planet as possible. In an industry that has historically relied on toxic materials and wasteful manufacturing, Firewire set out to prove that performance and sustainability don't have to be in conflict.
The result is a range of surfboards that have been ridden and endorsed by some of the best surfers on the planet — including Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, Tomo, and a long list of world-class athletes who choose Firewire not just for the environmental credentials, but because the boards genuinely perform. The FutureFlex construction system uses a parabolic carbon rail frame and a bio-resin fibreglass skin to create a board that flexes and snaps back through turns with a liveliness that traditional PU construction struggles to match. The Timbertek system replaces the fibreglass skin with a thin paulownia wood veneer, delivering a stiffer, more responsive feel with a distinctive natural aesthetic.
Firewire's model range covers every style of surfing. The Seaside and Beyond, shaped in collaboration with Rob Machado, is one of the most popular small-wave boards in the world. The Dominator and Sweet Potato are go-to options for surfers who want more volume and forgiveness without sacrificing performance. The Alternator and Mashup cater to high-performance shortboard surfing, while the Glazer and Cymatic push into more progressive, experimental territory. There's a Firewire shape for every surfer and every condition.
Buying a Firewire board is a decision you can feel good about on two levels — the way it rides, and the way it's made.
