Bonfire started in 1989 when pro snowboarder Brad Steward left Southern California for Portland and started making clothes that looked like snowboarding, not skiwear with a different logo. The name comes from the end-of-season board burn the crew used to run — a rider brand that helped define how snowboard outerwear was supposed to fit and feel.
