The 5-Second Life Jacket Fit Test
Share

Before anyone gets on the rope, we run the same quick check in the shop. It takes five seconds and tells you if your vest will actually stay on.

The 5-second fit test
- Zip and buckle everything.
- Pull it away from your chest. Only about 5 to 10 cm of give is right.
- Arms up, you or a mate lifts the shoulders. If it rides past your ears, it's too loose.

Then do the chin check in shallow water: lean back and relax, and your chin should stay clear.
Why Level 50S says "fit snug"
Most wake vests are Level 50S. They rely on a close fit, and neoprene stretches when wet, so it should feel tight on land.

For sizing, the AS 4758 levels and the towed-sports rules in each state, read our full guide: How to Wear a Life Jacket: Fit, Sizing & Australian Rules. Then browse wake vests and life jackets, or come in to 207 Mornington-Tyabb Road, Mornington for a fitting (Mon–Fri 10–5:30, Sat 10–4, Sun 11–3).
