Ski & Snowboard Wax and Tuning Tools — Keep Your Base Fast & Edges Sharp

A well-tuned ski or snowboard makes a bigger difference than most riders realise. Sharp edges grip ice and hardpack with confidence, a freshly waxed base glides faster and protects the P-Tex from drying out, and a properly maintained board simply rides better — every run, every season. Welcome Boardstore stocks a full range of wax, tuning tools, irons, brushes, and scrapers from trusted brands including Swix, Toko, Dakine, Demon United, and Anticorp.

Whether you're setting up a home tuning bench or just need a scraper and a bar of wax to get through the season, we have everything you need.

Waxing Irons

A dedicated waxing iron is essential for hot waxing — never use a regular clothing iron, as it can't hold a consistent temperature and will damage your base:

  • Toko T8 Wax Iron (2025) — A reliable recreational iron with an analogue temperature dial. Temperature range: 100–160°C. The go-to option for home waxing setups.
  • Toko T14 Digital Wax Iron (2026) — Professional-grade digital iron with precise temperature control (100–160°C), ergonomic design, and an extra-strong aluminium heating plate with wax-distribution grooves for even application. The best iron in our range for consistent, professional results.

Glide Wax

Wax your base regularly to maintain speed, protect the P-Tex, and improve glide across all snow conditions:

  • Swix PS-180 Performance Speed Non-Fluoro Glide Wax — Temperature range: -4°C to +4°C. Easy to melt, suitable for training, racing, and base preparation. Recommended iron temperature: 130°C. Replaces CH8X.
  • Swix NO-18U North Glidewax Uni 180g — Biodegradable universal speed brick wax. Suitable for all temperatures. Popular with snowboarders and freeriders on powder days.
  • Swix U60 Universal Wax 60g — Biodegradable universal hydrocarbon wax for skis and snowboards. A compact, versatile option for everyday waxing.
  • Toko Natural Universal Snow Wax — Made from renewable resources. Suitable for rub-on or hot application. Temperature range: 0 to -30°C. Recyclable packaging. Also suitable for waxing ski skins during ascent.
  • Demon Snow Lightning Wax 133g — Universal wax for any snow temperature. No PFCs or PFAS. Melting point 135–150°F. Made in the USA. A clean, eco-conscious option.

Scrapers

After hot waxing, you need to scrape off the excess before brushing — a sharp scraper makes this fast and clean:

  • Swix Plexi Scraper — Sharp, effective 3mm plexi blade for removing glider wax cleanly from ski and snowboard bases.
  • Dakine Triangle Scraper — Multi-purpose triangle scraper with a notched corner for cleaning wax off edges. Includes a hole for keyring or lanyard attachment.
  • Anticorp Triangle Wax Scraper — A simple, durable triangle scraper for post-iron wax removal.

Brushes

Brushing after scraping opens up the base structure and dramatically improves glide. Use the right brush for each stage:

  • Swix T159B Bronze/Nylon Combi Brush — All-round rectangular combi brush with bronze (0.15mm) and nylon (0.12mm) bristles. For brushing and polishing liquid and paste glide waxes on skis and snowboards.
  • Swix T161B White Nylon Brush — Medium-stiff rectangular finishing brush for polishing bases. 0.32mm nylon bristles.
  • Swix T160B Blue Nylon Polish Brush — Fine nylon polishing brush for all wax types. Specifically designed for polishing glide wax to a smooth finish.
  • Swix T157B Horsehair Brush — Final finishing brush for TSP powder and a high-gloss base polish. Ergonomically designed.

Edge Tuning

Sharp edges are critical for grip on hardpack and ice. Dull edges wash out in turns and reduce confidence at speed:

  • Swix Pocket Edger — Pocket-sized side edge file guide with ergonomic design. Adjustable to 87 or 88 degrees. Includes a 40mm quality file. Great for on-mountain touch-ups.
  • Swix Pocket Edger Kit — A complete edge maintenance kit including file guide (88/87 degrees), diamond grindstone, coarse grindstone, and ski brake retainers. Everything you need for a full edge tune.

Base Cleaner

  • Swix I67N Base Cleaner 500ml — Low-aromatic hydrocarbon cleaner for removing grip wax and klister from ski bases. Eco-friendlier, less flammable, and practically odourless. Use with a scraper and Fiberlene cloth for best results.

Kits & Multi-Tools

  • Anticorp Tuning Kit — A padded bag kit with everything for on-the-go servicing: edge tuner, wax scraper, buffer brush, pocket driver, deburring stone, deck screw kit, scourer, and universal wax. The ideal kit to keep in your boot bag all season.
  • Dakine Fidget Tool — Pocket-sized multi-tool for emergency repairs and field adjustments. Includes a built-in keychain ring.
  • Dakine Heli Straps — 18" (46cm) moulded urethane straps for securing skis and poles together during transport or storage. Compatible with all ski widths.

How Often Should You Wax?

  • Recreational riders — Wax every 3–5 days on snow, or when the base starts to look dry or white.
  • Frequent riders — Wax every 1–2 days on snow for optimal glide and base protection.
  • Edge tuning — Deburr edges after every session; do a full file tune every 5–10 days depending on conditions.
  • Base cleaning — Clean your base before applying fresh wax to remove old wax residue and contaminants.

Welcome Boardstore also offers in-store waxing and tuning services — drop your board or skis in and we'll have them riding like new. Reach out if you need advice on which wax suits your local snow conditions.
