Hello, Chris O'Shea from WelcomeWakenSnow.com.au and today we're taking a look at the 2021 Salomon Lotus Board.
This snowboard is a great board for the beginner to intermediate rider that has interests in riding the whole mountain and also has an interest in potentially progressing their riding into the park. It has quite a soft flex which makes it really really good for hitting rails and stuff and just when you're learning to get going in the park. Having a softer board, it's just going to be a bit more forgiving for you. So, really that beginner to intermediate rider that this will suit also somebody that's transferring from, say your regular flat to rocker boards, which is really.
When you look at rental boards most rental boards are gonna have that flat to rock a profile just because they're more forgiving. This is a good transfer to a camber board because it is a camber board but what they're doing with the camber profile in the Lotus, you can see it sits up quite away. They have flat camber so opposed to the board coming up in an arc, the board comes up and then it has a flat spot.
So this camber risen part through the center here is completely flat. Which just makes the board really easy to run and a bit more consistent. So, when you're transferring to camber, it's a good sort of stepping stone that Salomon's put into their shapes. And then, it's got the catch free edges. So, once it comes out from the flat to about here, the contact points, it starts to lift up. So making the board really really good to learn on and also fun for just pressing. And, will also give you a board that works in powder.
So really just a board that's super versatile for anyone out there. It's a twin shape, which means that, you ride the board exactly the same both ways except for it is set back one centimeter. So, they call it a twin directional. So, the board is twin but one centimeter on the insert is set back which is just going to give you a bit more stability when you're riding forward.
But switch riding having that one centimeter off you're not going to notice it but it is kind of nice to be set back just that little bit, especially, if your powder riding and stuff like that. It comes with an Extruded Base. So, that's why it's at a really good affordable price. So, it's not your sintered base when you get in some of your higher boards. The sintered base is actually more durable. It doesn't hold as much wax so it's not as fast but it's still a really durable good base.
And yeah, that's the 2021 Salomon Lotus. It's looking good.
