2026 Futures John John Florence Techflex (M) Thruster Fins | The Triple Crown Standard for High-Performance Drive

There is a reason this fin has three World Titles under its belt. Designed as John John Florence’s daily driver, the Techflex Thruster is built for the surfer who demands absolute reliability when the swell turns on, yet craves a springy, responsive feel in everyday beach breaks. Whether you're hunting heavy tubes or carving high-speed lines, these fins offer the perfect balance of stability and flair that mimics JJF’s iconic power-surfing style.

  • Key Technical Features

    • Techflex Construction: Combining the stiffness of carbon with the flex of fiberglass, this build is designed to handle high-speed transitions without washing out, giving you ultimate speed control.

    • Neutral Template: This versatile shape excels in all conditions. It provides enough rake for long, drawn-out carves while remaining pivotal enough to whip the tail around in the pocket.

    • 3.7 Ride Number: Sitting on the 'Speed Control' side of the scale, these fins feel solid and predictable. When the waves have some push, you’ll appreciate the extra hold and stability through your bottom turns.

    • Medium Sizing (55-80kgs): Optimized for medium-sized riders, this template allows for increased maneuverability on larger boards, ensuring you don’t feel "over-finned" when the rail is buried deep.

    Why You’ll Love It

The JJF Techflex is the ultimate "set and forget" thruster set for the dedicated surfer. It’s engineered for those who want a fin that won't chatter at high speeds but still offers enough pop to launch when the section presents itself. If you're looking for a predictable, high-performance fin that has been tested in the world's heaviest arenas—from Pipe to Margaret River—this is your new go-to.

Construction TechflexLight like Honeycomb. Stiff like fiberglass.

Engineered stiff and light. Solid and engaged on big drops, then light and responsive the moment you engage the rail. Sits just above the fiberglass line — built for powerful surfers and powerful waves.

Ride Number 3.7 · Speed control

Techflex spans 3–4.5; this fin sits at 3.7.

Stiff and light

Stiff and light

Speed control + response

For surfers who want big-wave hold with a bit more spring off the lip. The honeycomb core keeps the weight down, the carbon keeps it stiff and engaged. Solid rail turns and drive down the line, springy when you ask for it.

3K carbon

3K carbon

Controlled flex

3K carbon runs along the base and the tip, making the fin as light as Honeycomb while holding the stiffness of fiberglass. The result is a vertical flex pattern — control and drive down the line, lively and free off the lip.

Signature Techflex

Signature Techflex

Ridden by John John

John John Florence designed his Techflex signature as a larger complement to the F4 template. Medium base carrying through to a medium tip, and his weapon of choice in just about any condition.

Template Neutral The middle ground

Enough rake to hold, enough upright to turn tight. Neutral is the all-rounder of the three templates and where most surfers land — it does not force you into a style, it just does what you ask.

Ride Number 3.7 · Speed control How Futures rates every fin

Feel = Flex + Rake + Foil

Futures rates every construction on a 1–10 scale. Low numbers hold a predictable line and control your speed. High numbers generate speed and snap out of turns. Three physical properties combine to produce it, and they are not weighted equally — flex counts for the most, then rake, then foil.

1 – 4 Speed control

Solid, engaged, predictable. Built for powerful conditions.

4 – 7 Balanced

All-around. Drive, hold and looseness in equal measure.

7 – 10 Speed generating

Springy, fluid, responsive. Built to create speed from nothing.

Flex is how much the fin bends under load — soft generates speed, stable controls it. Rake is the sweep of the outline — upright turns tight, laid-back holds long. Foil is the cross-section — a V or V2 foil feels fluid, a flat foil feels engaged.

Sizing Which size am I? Sized to rider weight, not board length

Futures sizes fins to the surfer, not the board. Find your weight, then fine-tune with construction and template once you know your size.

The bands overlap on purpose. If you sit on a boundary, size up for more hold and drive, or down for a looser, easier-to-turn feel.
