The Importance of Custom Footbeds for Perfect Boot Fit
Share
Hey guys, it's Seb from Welcome. Today, I'm running you through footbeds and why we need them.
So, in your current boot, or the one you're potentially going to buy, this is what comes in it. It's super flat, not very supportive at all, so it's really important that we have some sort of footbed in your boot.
We have something that's called a ramp angle. If you can see, the boot is slightly angled like that, so it's going to try and push your foot forward. It's important that we have something like this that's going to hold that foot in place with a heel pocket and arch support, as well as supporting your arch.
So that's an option, otherwise, we do custom footbeds at Welcome Board Store. That's going to be molding your foot with this machine here. What we do is we'll get all the Jae balls in place, we will get you to sit up here and mold your foot. We can then suck the air out, so that's all nice and hard now, and that's shaped to your foot, ready to be molded.
We then grab our blank, bring it over here to our heater, and we’re going to put that on the heater like so. Let that heat up, and then we’ll mold it to your foot.
If you want to take your footbeds to the next level, we’ve got this sort of footbed, and this is what we call a post. What we're going to do is mold this to your foot, then stick this on here, and depending on your foot shape and type, we can fully mold this using this grinder here to have an optimum level of support when you're skiing.
By having something like this, you're going to have a more true-fitting boot, meaning you'll be able to carve harder, with no movement in your boot, making it really comfortable while you're skiing. At the same time, you're going to be able to push your skiing to the next level.
